The Birth of Positive Wise...

"Heading into 2014 and creating my own site where I could add content, have regular or guest writers was the next step forward. My experience in design and marketing gave me the essentials to be able to achieve this....that's how Positive Wise was born." - Christian Dolan

Our mission is to breakdown and overcome the stigma surrounding HIV and AIDS. To open the eyes of both the gay and straight community with the aim to increase understanding, promote equality and separate the facts from the fiction surrounding HIV and AIDS.

May 2013 I saw a tweet from Positive Lite a Canadian based Online Magazine asking for writers to contribute to their site. I always enjoyed writing, spilling my thoughts onto paper, but didn't consider myself a writer. I contacted the editor and before I knew it I was posting my HIV story. The editor asked me if I would like to become a regular writer and I took the offer up and was writing a post every fortnight.

Using social media, I was posting, sharing and retweeting my article for others to read. I have always been open about my status but never to this degree. I began receiving direct messages on Twitter and emails on Facebook  receiving positive feedback . Never had I expected the impact which was occurring before my eyes.

August 2013 and next thing I was contacted on Twitter by someone from Love It! Magazine asking me to appear in an issue of their magazine, telling my story of what it is like on the dating scene for someone who is HIV+

At the end of last year a good friend contacted me asking if I wanted to do some work for the NAT in conjunction with World AIDS Day. Suddenly, I found myself on Brixton high street being professional photographed and interviewed by the lovely Susan at the NAT wanting my story.

The National AIDS Trust contacted me a day later to come to the BBC studios up in central London to be interviewed by a member of Radio 5 Live which was to air on their hourly news bulletin on World AIDS Day.

Heading into 2014 and creating my own site where I could add content, have regular or guest writers was the next step forward. My experience in design and marketing gave me the essentials to be able to achieve this....that's how Positive Wise was born.
